WASUP 2022 CHALLENGE – COMMONWEALTH GAMES 2022

At the District Convention #TEAMCW launched the WASUP 2022 Challenge. We would like all clubs in the district to participate and collect as many bags of litter as possible so as a district we can collect at least 2022 bags of litter between now and the start of the commonwealth games on the 26th July 2022.

At today’s date 22nd March 2021 there are 442 days to the end of the challenge and 91 clubs in the district which means if each club could collect 22 bags of rubbish, we would make our target.

WASUP is World Against Single Use Plastics and is a group that we have been talking to during lock down.
Their main aims are to educate people about the problems associated with single use plastics and to litter pick to reduce the amount of plastic waste in the environment.

This challenge is a great opportunity for your club to engage with local community groups, raise the profile of Lions in your area and help protect the environment.
Covid19 has shown us that there are hundreds of thousands of people up and down the country who like volunteering and as lock down restrictions ease and we are able to get back to normal now is the time to shout about Lions and what we do and encourage volunteers to volunteer with us.

We need to keep count and log all of the bags collected so please log your service collection on MyLion along side emailing: environment@lions105cw.org.uk
Remember to include your club name along with the number of bags of litter collected and the date.
If possible please can you include a photograph of all of the collectors standing around the bags you have collected.

Collecting the bags of waste is only half of the story, we need photos of the waste collected for publicity.
We want to shout about the work we do and the difference we make to our local communities.

We will keep a record of numbers and will publish these each month along with the top 5 collecting clubs.

Which club is going to collect the most? Is any club going to manage to collect 2022?

Good Luck
